Wine Advocate Issue 245 Is Now Live

Our annual monster End Of October Issue is now live, featuring  thousands of juicy wine reviews and recommendations to quench your palate.

First up, following his recent trip to Argentina, Luis Gutiérrez has outdone himself this year with over 1,100 reviews of the recent releases from this country, concluding: “Sense of Place...But Beware!”

Meanwhile, I have been hard at work here in Napa Valley tasting through the newly bottled 2017 vintage. 2017 was something of Napa’s “Perfect Storm” year, yielding a number of spectacular wines in the end, but there are also a lot of ordinary wines and a few disappointments. This is one vintage in which wine buyers will really want to take some advice before parting with their money.

Those who have been patiently waiting for South Africa reviews from our newbie reviewer, Anthony Mueller, wait no more. We’ve just published over 500 tasting notes comprising just Part 1, looking at the 2016 & 2017 vintages.

We also have an in-depth article on the history and latest developments at Château Mouton Rothschild: The Sheep with the Golden Fleece, including tasting notes going back to the legendary 1945 vintage.

Other reports (11 in total), feature reviews on wines from Styria, Eastern Europe, Southern Rhône, Israel, Lebanon, Greece, Portugal, Virginia and a dash of Canada.

Now for some exciting news to share with you: We have a new Reviewer! Dr. Edward Ragg, MW, has just joined us to take over our reviews of wines from China. Based in Beijing, Edward became a Master of Wine earlier this year.

We anticipate publishing Edward’s first report on the latest developments in the Chinese wine scene in early 2020.

Happy Wine Hunting!

Cheers,

Lisa Perrotti-Brown & The Team at Robert Parker Wine Advocate
