Best Wines in February 2019 Week 2 Issue

Last week, we posted over 200 wine reviews in our February 2019 Week 2 Issue—a small issue but much to love. Swiss wine takes center stage in our latest and greatest, some of which will be presented during the Grand Walkabout Tasting at this year’s Matter of Taste Zurich, happening this weekend. (There are a few tickets left—get them here.)

The following eight wines are the very best of our latest issue, all rated 96 points and higher.

“This is a unique wine from Grison—along with the 2011 and perhaps also the 2016, it is the finest I have tasted from this domaine.”

“This is a great sweet wine that demonstrates the aptitude of Pinot Noir for noble sweet wine.”

“On the palate, this is a highly refined, fresh and finessed Pinot with peppery flavors on the very delicate finish.”

“A great but delicate wine.”

“On the palate, this is a full-bodied, highly elegant, fresh and tensioned Chardonnay with enormous salinity and mineral freshness.”

“A highly promising wine, it is compact, tight, salty and so long and stimulating.”

“This is delicious, with tea and orange flavors, salty crystallinity and lovely apricot fruit on the fish.”

“This is an amazing wine—by far the best Pinot I have ever tasted in Switzerland.”
