Randol’s

Randol’s Restaurant on the outskirts of Lafayette, Louisiana (considered to be the crawfish capital of the world) is a well-known, highly praised Cajun specialty restaurant. There was also a terrific band playing the night my wife and I were there. I tried their steamed blue crabs to compare them with what we get in Maryland. They were very good, but not as spicy as the Maryland version as the Louisiana crabs have only black pepper on them as opposed to the assortment of spices Marylanders throw on their steamed crabs. I also had the fried seafood platter, which was of average quality. My wife’s Special Salad was delicious, and her fried catfish was very good.

The wine list was terrible, so we had a couple of cocktails while listening to the music.
