Bistro Jeanty

This is one of the best looking bistro menus I have ever seen with just about every bistro classic represented in what is a relatively ambitious menu from the kitchen. The food is flavorful, generous and faithful to these great French classics that have existed for hundreds of years. The Steak Tartare was top-notch, the Quenelles were delicious (although the sauce was a little thick), and the superb Coq Au Vin and Entrecote were as good as one can find.

The food was washed down with a brilliant dry Billecart-Salmon Rosé Champagne as well as two magnificent reds from the nearby Kapcsandy Family Vineyard’s State Lane Vineyard in Yountville, the 2007 Grand Vin and the 2007 Roberta’s Reserve. The latter wine, dominated by Merlot, revealed more chocolatey characteristics. Both are fabulous wines from this up-and-coming, superb producer of world-class wines from Bordeaux varietals.
